Agrona UX

How we turned an AI crop advisor into a field tool for farmers with very different levels of digital confidence: chat-first help, a daily “what to do today” loop, an honest health score and a technology plan that ends with a real agronomist’s signature.

The Goal

The request was “an AI chat for farmers”. The problem was deciding when to act. I separated the solution in the brief from the job behind it, then diagnosed the behaviour we needed to change before designing a single screen.

Job to be done
“When something changes in my field, I want to know whether I need to act, what to do and by when — so I protect my yield without spending on inputs I don’t need.”

The Challenge

Outcome first, opportunities second, solutions last.

The tree kept the team honest: every feature had to trace back to a farmer need and to the one outcome we were optimising for. Solutions in lime are the ones we shipped first; each is framed as a testable bet.

The Result

A daily loop farmers can act on, with a human signature at the end.

We turned the AI into a field tool, not a chatbot. Each morning the app answers one question — what to do today — and ranks actions by urgency and cost. An honest health score shows how every field is doing and why, without hiding uncertainty. Chat stays one tap away for follow-up questions, and every technology plan is reviewed and signed by a real agronomist before it reaches the farmer, so trust is earned, not assumed.
